Youth Employment Support or YES

The Youth Employment Support Program (YES) assists young people to transition into the workforce by providing them with the practical skills they need to successfully find work. YES is a short program (up to 6–8 weeks duration) targeting young job seekers that lack the skills and/or knowledge to find employment.

Objectives:
The YES Program will provide job search assistance and training, including:
• resume preparation and writing;
• job interview skills;
• job search advice, including where to look for work, how to apply for work, and understanding employer expectations;
• networking opportunities with local businesses and employers to share their experiences and industry knowledge;
• employability skills, such as communication in the workplace, working in a team, problem solving, planning and organising, and self-management.

The delivery of the program will be tailored to each participants’ circumstances.

Target Groups:

The YES Program primarily targets Queensland residents aged 15–24 years who identify with any of the following circumstances:
• ineligible for Australian Government employment services or assistance
• require complementary services because they have significant barriers to learning and employment
• have accessed Australian Government services for more than six months and remain unemployed

Priority will be given to young people who have already left school or are undertaking further education and training. School students may only participate in Ready for Work where it can be demonstrated that the student meets all of the following:
• is at risk of disengaging from school
• has minimal barriers to achieving employment i.e. they only require minimal assistance to successfully transition to work
• does not have access to other forms of job search assistance

Transition to Work or TtW

Transition to Work aims to provide young people aged 15-21 years with support in gaining work or enrolling into further education. We support young people by providing intensive pre-employment assistance and work readiness skills that will enable the young person to successfully transition in to employment and/or further education and training.

Objective:
Transition to Work provides intensive, pre-employment support to improve the work readiness of young people aged 15-21 to help them into work or education. Intensive support can be provided for up to 12 months. There is a strong focus on helping young people to understand what is expected in the workplace and to develop the skills and behaviours required by employers. We recognise that each person is an individual and we work with them one on one and in group environments to enhance their skills. Transition to Work achieves this through the following ways:
·   Career Advice & Planning  - Utilising tools to assist with goal setting and planning for the future
·   Training  – A selection of courses may be able to be accessed to help you to update skills and gain a qualification
·   Job Preparation Support  – Including preparing resumes, applications & letters; searching for vacancies, cold calling & preparing for job interviews
·   Work Experience  – Including assistance to identify employers to undertake possible work trials
·   Job Placement & Follow-up Support  - After you start working, we will keep in touch to ensure that things are working out & provide support as required
·   Personal Development  - Working on barriers that you have identified as an area that they would like to improve on

Target Groups:
The Transition to Work service targets three groups of young people. We primarily target 15 -21 year old’s who:
·  are Australian citizens; or
·  the holder of a permanent Visa; or
·  New Zealand Special Category Visa holders
